Research Postcards – Ed Grimoldby

The digital artwork demonstrates the technique of 'micro-polygon displacement' whereby the 3D software subdivides the basic geometry into hundreds of thousands of units which are affected with a procedural 'noise texture'. The art work is an attempt at visualising the internal structure of a frozen rock.
